The Mancomunidad de la Costera plans to progressively implement a new door-to-door waste collection system in its member municipalities after the summer, aiming to enhance recycling and efficiency.

This change responds to the need to modernize the service and comply with current environmental requirements, as explained by a spokesperson for the entity. The decision is based on over six years of technical studies and successful experiences in other territories, demonstrating its effectiveness.

"We are not here to look the other way. We are here to make decisions that improve the lives of our towns, even if they involve significant changes."

The main objective is to increase recycling levels through better waste separation at the source. Glass, paper and cardboard, and packaging containers will remain available 24 hours a day, while organic waste and other fractions will transition to door-to-door collection. Emergency areas will also be provided in all municipalities, along with electronically locked mailboxes to improve hygiene and prevent animal access.
The implementation of this system will involve a significant investment, as each household will receive specific materials for waste separation. Furthermore, part of the service will be renewed with electric vehicles and quieter, less polluting machinery. This project also addresses the demands of European regulations on recycling.

"Every euro invested yields returns in the form of cleanliness, efficiency, and future."

Citizen participation will be key, with incentive mechanisms to recognize good practices. Before implementation, the Mancomunidad will conduct an information campaign in all municipalities, with explanatory sessions and participation spaces to address doubts and foster collaboration.
