Red flag raised at a bathing area in Torrevieja due to a water quality incident.

The Generalitat Valenciana has ordered the temporary closure of Torrevieja's Natural Pools, which will reopen once analyses confirm parameter normalization.

The Department of Beaches of the Torrevieja City Council has activated the protocol within the Beach Management System, following directives from the General Directorate of Environmental Quality and Education of the Generalitat Valenciana. This action was taken after a specific issue was detected during routine water quality checks at a bathing zone of the Natural Pools of Paseo Juan Aparicio.
Immediately, and under the coordination of the Department of Beaches, the entire operational procedure has been initiated. The Local Police has temporarily closed the bathing area, while the lifeguard service has hoisted the red flag and informed users about this preventive measure.
Concurrently, the mixed company AGAMED has collected new water samples to monitor the evolution of the detected parameters. The situation is under continuous observation by the competent administrations and technical services.
The City Council aims to reassure the public, emphasizing that this is a standard protocol designed to ensure the highest safety and quality of bathing waters at all times. The issue is confined to the analyzed control point, and actions are being taken with maximum speed and coordination.
The popular bathing area of the Natural Pools will reopen to the public as soon as the results of the new analyses confirm that the parameters have returned to adequate levels for bathing, a development that will be promptly communicated.
