Santa Pola Municipal Libraries concluded the first five months of the year with particularly intense activity. Between January and May, they registered 24,608 visitors, a figure equivalent to 62.1% of the municipality's registered population. This volume of visits confirms the importance of this public service in the daily lives of citizens, extending beyond simple book lending to become a space for study, training, digital access, and cultural activities.
The lending service maintains high demand, with 15,800 books and other documents borrowed during the same period. This averages 3,160 loans per month. Furthermore, 7,956 users utilized this service, meaning approximately one in every five Santa Pola residents has used the library lending service in these five months.
The cultural and educational programming has also been notable, with 270 activities and 1,736 recreational and educational sessions organized between January and May, averaging over 11 sessions daily. These figures reflect the efforts of the library staff to promote reading and social participation among users of all ages.
The digital inclusion function of the libraries continues to grow. A total of 3,133 people used the public computers or the wifi connection, an essential resource for inquiries, studies, or online tasks. The study rooms also saw significant demand, with 4,050 users, approximately 10.2% of the population, utilizing them for exam preparation or academic activities.
Additionally, 785 residents received assistance with electronic procedures and digital administrative tasks. The growth of the local reading community is also noteworthy, with the addition of 444 new members to the Santa Pola Municipal Libraries during this period.
