Pizzeria Cristal and Bar La Plana have been the big winners of Vila-real's 18th Tapas Route, which served 8,050 tapas and generated 40,250 euros.

The 18th edition of the Vila-real Tapas Route concluded on May 3rd with a total of 8,050 tapas served and an estimated business volume of 40,250 euros. Fifteen establishments from the city participated in this event, organized by the Vila-real Hospitality and Leisure Association (Ashiovi). The initiative reaches its majority, consolidating itself as a significant gastronomic event on the local and provincial calendar.
The figures, released this Wednesday, reflect the route's role as a driver of hospitality and commercial dynamism, although they are lower than the 2025 edition, when 11,300 tapas were served and 51,000 euros in business was generated.
The awards ceremony, held at the Gran Casino, brought together the managers of the participating venues, as well as the deputy mayor Maria Fajardo, the Councilor for Hospitality and Commerce, Xus Madrigal, council members, Ashiovi members, and the festival queen and her maids.
Xus Madrigal highlighted the intention of these proposals to boost local consumption and the proximity economy, offering spaces for coexistence around gastronomy. For his part, Ashiovi president, Emilio Miralles, emphasized the consolidation of the Tapas Route and the Carajillo Route, with high participation.
In the 18th Tapas Route, Pizzeria Cristal achieved a double win in the free tapa category and the orange tapa category. The popular vote recognized the free tapa from Bar La Plana, while Pico de Gallo took home the award for the orange tapa.
The 2nd Carajillo Route, with 27 participating venues, stood out for its combination of innovation and tradition. Bar Madrigal was the big winner, taking first prize in both the traditional carajillo and the free creation categories. El Rincón de la Olivereta, Valentine’s Cafe & Bar, Restaurante El Termet, and El Casino were also recognized.
The event also served to acknowledge the involvement of the participating establishments, collaborators, and sponsors, as well as the work of the professional jury. Eight gift vouchers of 50 euros were raffled, and two more checks, sponsored by Clar Televisió, for the Special Social Media Images Award were presented.
Ashiovi maintained its solidarity aspect with a charitable contribution to the association Un pequeño paso (1 PePa), dedicated to people with Prader-Willi syndrome. The organization positively values both initiatives as tools for promoting local gastronomy, economic dynamism, and tourist appeal for Vila-real.
