Red flag waving on La Roda beach in Altea to prohibit swimming.

La Roda beach, located in the municipality of Altea, has been closed to swimming this Wednesday after the latest quality controls detected residual contamination.

The decision was adopted by the local government after receiving notification from the General Directorate of Quality and Environmental Education of the Generalitat. The analytical results advised restricting access to the water as a preventive measure to ensure user safety.
Currently, the red flag is flying on the sand to inform of the prohibition. Municipal technical services are working in the area to search for the source of the contamination and determine if it is a one-off episode or a recurring incident.
The City Council has announced that new samples will be taken in the coming days to check the evolution of water quality. The goal is to confirm that microbiological levels return to safe margins to reopen the service soon.

"We regret the inconvenience and appreciate the public's cooperation."
