The Calp Auditorium is preparing to host the third edition of the Calp Piano Festival, an event that in just three years has become an unmissable date for lovers of classical music. During the upcoming month of May, the Calp stage will welcome four of the most outstanding pianists on the current international scene. Admission to all four concerts will be free.
The concert series will kick off on Friday, May 8, with Parisian Jean-Paul Gasparian, described by France Musique as «one of France's greatest piano talents». Gasparian will offer a program focused on the delicacy and virtuosity of Debussy, Fauré, and Chopin.
The program will continue on Friday, May 15, with Congyu Wang. The Singaporean pianist, distinguished with the prestigious title of «Steinway Artist», will delight the audience with pieces by Chopin and Ravel.
The next festival concert will arrive on Wednesday, May 20, with the presence of Chinese pianist Zee Zee. Known for her impeccable technique and explosive energy, Zee Zee is a regular soloist with the China and Shanghai Philharmonics. Her recital in Calp will focus on her specialty: the work of Liszt (Tarantella, Vallée d’Obermann, and Les Jeux d’Eaux á la Villa d’Este), as well as pieces by Schubert.
The grand finale will take place on Friday, May 29, featuring a familiar face to the local audience: Hungarian István I. Székely. The pianist and teacher, artistic director of competitions such as the Franz Liszt Center and Sombor in Serbia, will close this edition, reaffirming the international character and pedagogical excellence of the festival.
With this third edition, the Calp Piano Festival not only offers high-level culture to residents and visitors but also consolidates Calp as a benchmark for piano music in the national territory. According to the event poster, all concerts will take place at 8:00 PM, and admission is free until full capacity is reached, recommended for ages 8 and up.
