The Xàbia City Council has reported that the reduction of places at the Municipal Children's School is due to the need to adapt the center to current educational regulations, thus avoiding a potential closure.

The Xàbia City Council has issued an official statement to clarify that the planned reduction in places at the Municipal Children's School is exclusively due to a process of adaptation to current educational regulations. The council denies that the measure is due to a lack of staff, as some families had expressed, and assures that the objective is to guarantee the center's continuity.
According to the council, managed by PP and Ciudadanos por Jávea, during the 2023-2024 academic year, the Educational Inspectorate visited the school and informed the council of the need to adapt the facilities to legal requirements to obtain administrative authorization. The warning was clear: a lack of action could lead to the center's closure.
The statement recalls that Xàbia's Municipal School was one of the few municipal schools that had not yet adapted to the regulations. Faced with this situation, the City Council initiated renovation procedures, including improvements in accessibility, toilet adaptation, space redistribution, and other actions to offer safer and more modern facilities.
This reorganization of the center's capacity, adjusting ratios and the number of places to the dimensions required by regulations, will allow for larger spaces and improved quality of educational care. The reduction in places, therefore, is an obligation to comply with the law and provide adequate spaces, not due to a lack of staff.
The City Council is already planning the next academic year, taking into account the actual capacity of the adapted facilities and the legal requirements for obtaining final authorization, with the aim of guaranteeing the service with all guarantees.
The council also mentioned a similar situation with the Professional Music Conservatory, which in 2023 received a requirement from the Ministry of Education due to insufficient teaching staff. In both cases, the municipal action has sought to correct inherited problems and ensure the continuity of fundamental educational services by adapting to regulations.
Finally, the City Council has conveyed a message of reassurance to families, reiterating that all actions are aimed at guaranteeing the continuity of the Municipal Children's School, improving its facilities, and offering a quality educational service fully adapted to current legislation.
