The Torrent City Council and Aigües de l’Horta have launched a new chilled water fountain in El Vedat, expanding the municipal network to improve services for residents.

The Torrent City Council and Aigües de l’Horta continue to advance in the deployment of the chilled water fountain network throughout the city with the launch of a new facility in El Vedat. Coinciding with the first weekend of the year with a yellow alert for high temperatures, residents have already been able to enjoy this new fountain located next to the Monte Vedat Auxiliary Clinic (future Torrent IV Health Center), on Font de Sant Lluís street.
The installation responds to a request made by the El Vedat Neighborhood Association, a demand that has been met by the municipal government team led by mayor Amparo Folgado, as part of its commitment to improve services and facilities in all neighborhoods of the city.
This new chilled water fountain serves both the residents of El Vedat and the numerous people who use the paths and healthy routes in this large area of Torrent every day for walking, practicing sports, or enjoying the natural environment.

"We continue to fulfill commitments with our residents and expand a network of infrastructure that improves the quality of life for the people of Torrent. This fountain was a request from the El Vedat Neighborhood Association, and today it is a reality that will allow residents and visitors to have fresh water in one of the busiest areas of the city, especially during the hottest months."

Amparo Folgado · Mayor of Torrent

"The success these refrigerated fountains are having encourages us to continue studying new locations. We are considering expanding this network to more squares, passageways, and healthy routes so that more and more residents can benefit from this service, which also helps promote sustainable habits and reduce plastic consumption."

Amparo Folgado · Mayor of Torrent
With this new facility in El Vedat, there are now five chilled fresh water fountains installed over the past year in Torrent. The previous ones are located in Plaza Obispo Benlloch, Avenida al Vedat opposite the Metrovalencia station, the Pati Pare Deusa where the sports courts have recently been renovated, and Avenida Olímpica, consolidating an increasingly extensive and accessible network for the public.

"These fountains represent a clear commitment to a more friendly, healthy city prepared to face episodes of high temperatures. In addition to offering quality fresh water, they become support points for those who engage in outdoor physical activity and elements that help create urban climate shelters."

José Francisco Gozalvo · Councilor for Urban Planning and Environment

"The collaboration between the City Council and Aigües de l’Horta is enabling the development of actions that combine sustainability, public health, and climate change adaptation, improving public spaces for all residents."

José Francisco Gozalvo · Councilor for Urban Planning and Environment
In addition to providing fresh water during hot weather, these fountains allow citizens to refill their own reusable bottles, contributing to the reduction of plastic packaging consumption and promoting more environmentally friendly habits.
The interest and acceptance of these facilities among the population were recently reflected in the report by Aigües de l’Horta and the Torrent City Council on the first two fountains installed in the city, located on Avenida al Vedat and Plaza Obispo Benlloch. During their first year of operation, both registered a total of 163,978 uses, confirming the high demand for this service from residents.
The implementation of this chilled fountain network is part of the municipal strategy to improve citizen well-being and reinforce urban climate shelters, especially during the summer months, when high temperatures make it necessary to have spaces and services that help combat heat and protect public health.
