The Compromís municipal group in Sagunto has requested an urgent intervention in the petanque courts located next to the Trinquet Comarcal to ensure decent conditions for sports practice.

The spokesperson for the Valencianist party held a meeting with representatives of the Grup d'Esplai Petanca Morvedre to assess the current state of the facilities. According to the users, the space requires periodic cleaning, an irrigation system to keep the ground in good condition, and repairs to the lighting, which currently makes it impossible to play safely in the evening.
In addition to the deficiencies in the courts, the group has denounced the lack of access to basic services. Previously, users could use the Trinquet Comarcal facilities to store equipment and access restrooms, but this option is no longer available. Now, athletes, many of whom are elderly, must travel to the René Marigil pavilion, about 150 meters away, where the restrooms are not always open.

"Petanque users in Sagunto do not have a proper space to practice their sport. They feel disregarded by the City Council, which makes decisions without considering their opinion."

User representatives also criticized the relocation of a water fountain, which was moved 70 meters without any justification from the council. Compromís has lamented the lack of dialogue with the mayor's office and recalled that, during their time in the local government, these courts were upgraded to facilitate physical activity for the city's elderly population.
