The plenary session of the Quart de Poblet City Council has unanimously approved a motion demanding the immediate construction of a second health center in the municipality from the Ministry of Health, due to significant demographic growth.

The initiative, promoted by Compromís, seeks to prevent the collapse of primary care in the town. The request has received the support of all political forces in the City Council, including PSOE, PP, Vox, Quart entre Totes, and Compromís, sending a joint message to the Generalitat about the need for specific funding for this infrastructure.
The municipality currently exceeds 28,000 inhabitants, a figure that will increase imminently with the completion of 1,165 official protection homes already awarded or under construction. According to the proposing party, this population volume exceeds the legal parameters established for having a single health center.

"The lack of foresight from the Consell is evident, as no budget allocations have been made to address a residential expansion that was already planned. Urban growth must be accompanied by basic services to avoid healthcare saturation and ensure dignified care for citizens."

The approved proposal includes a series of urgent measures to strengthen the local health network. Among these are the construction of the new center and the improvement of the auxiliary clinic in Santa Cecilia. Additionally, an increase in healthcare staff, reinforcement of mental health care, and the provision of new medical equipment such as ultrasound machines, electrocardiographs, and retinographs are requested.
