The Diocese of Segorbe-Castellón has decreed the temporary suspension of the use of the Santa Joaquina de Vedruna parish church in Castelló, following a false ceiling collapse and a report warning of risks.

The decision, signed by the bishop, comes after a false ceiling fell during a storm last March. The diocesan architect, Ángel María Albert, has deemed that there is a certain risk of further detachments or partial collapses, which prevents guaranteeing the safety of users.
The temple, located next to the Hermanas Carmelitas de la Caridad school, now has its main gate closed, and a sign announces the decision. Parishioners of Santa Joaquina de Vedruna are left without their place of worship indefinitely, and neighboring parishes will be responsible for attending to activities. The Esperanza parish will receive most of the faithful.

"It is not possible to guarantee the safety of the temple's users in its current state. It could fail suddenly."

This closure creates a significant challenge for the communions scheduled for May. However, a solution has been found for families, and communions will take place in the Esperanza, San Francisco, and San Vicente parishes, with no changes to the scheduled days. Furthermore, the Carmelitas' graduation ceremony for this academic year will also not be able to be held in the church.
