The council of Nules has announced a new edition of its Jocs Florals, one of the oldest literary competitions in the Valencian Community, which this year reaches its LXXII edition. In parallel, the tenth edition of the Research and Dissemination Awards is being held. The deadline for submitting works is September 4th, and the awards ceremony will take place at the Teatre Alcázar in Nules in October.
Works must be submitted in both paper and digital format (PDF or USB), including the contact details and curriculum vitae of each participant. The Jocs Florals feature various categories, including the “Flor Natural,” endowed with 4,000 euros for the best poetry collection of free theme and meter. Awards of 500 euros will also be given for religious or ethical-themed poetry, and patriotic-themed poetry.
Regarding the Extraordinary Awards, the “Premi de poesia Anna Rebeca,” worth 1,000 euros, is included for the best poem written by a person born in Nules, and the “Premi Poemari Infantil,” endowed with 500 euros.
In the tenth edition of the Research and Dissemination Awards, works on language, local history, economic transformation, or care for the elderly will be awarded. The “Investigació Lingüística sobre el Valencià” award, sponsored by the Acadèmia Valenciana de la Llengua, is endowed with 2,000 euros. Other categories address the history of Nules, agricultural cooperativism, music, economic innovation, or the role of rural savings banks.
As a novelty, the award “Capacidades que inspiran relatos de una sociedad inclusiva” is incorporated, sponsored by the Associació d’Empresaris de la Comunitat Valenciana per la Integració Laboral de les Persones amb Discapacitat-Centre de Formació Integrem, with an endowment of 1,000 euros.
The regulations stipulate that ordinary awards and the linguistic research award must be written in Valencian. Research works must follow academic standards such as the APA citation system and have a minimum length of 15 pages. The Nules City Council has specified that works written or translated, in whole or in part, with Artificial Intelligence will be excluded.
