The town of Benicàssim has experienced a 10% growth in paper and cardboard collection between January and May 2026, compared to the same period of the previous year.

This increase coincides with the implementation of the new urban waste management contract, which seeks to optimize selective collection services throughout the municipality. One of the main actions has been the reinforcement of the door-to-door system for commercial cardboard, an initiative to which 92 local establishments have already joined.
The collection service for businesses operates from Monday to Friday in the morning, specifically between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM during the high season. The goal of this measure is to avoid the accumulation of waste in areas with high commercial activity and promote a cleaner and more orderly image of the municipality.

"Thanks to the daily collaboration of our merchants, the cardboard recycling data is positive, a joint effort that demonstrates that local commerce not only boosts our economy but also leads the transition towards a more sustainable and exemplary urban model."

Susana Marqués · Mayor of Benicàssim
In addition to the commercial sector, the City Council has extended this collection system to educational centers and municipal offices, spaces that until now did not have this specific service. At the same time, the council reminds citizens of the need to deposit domestic paper and cardboard in the blue container, always folded and in suitable conditions to facilitate its subsequent recycling.
