The Ministry of Housing has boosted the Plan Vive in Alicante by tendering a competition to build a block of 69 affordable rental homes in the Benisaudet neighborhood.

The new public housing development, located on a plot owned by the Valencian Entity for Housing and Land (EVHA) at the intersection of Vicente Aleixandre and San Pedro Poveda streets, has a tender budget of 12,428,428 euros (including taxes) and an estimated execution period of 24 months. The residential complex will include community spaces and a basement with capacity for 77 parking spaces.
This initiative is part of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, financed by Next Generation funds from the European Union. In parallel, another development of 57 homes in Torrent is planned. The deadline for submitting bids for both projects is July 27th.
The first vice-president and Minister of Housing, Employment, Youth, and Equality, Susana Camarero, highlighted that these tenders respond to the "need to create protected housing" to meet "growing demand" from citizens. She emphasized that the Consell is promoting a "paradigm shift" in public housing through "developments with innovative urban interventions" designed with energy efficiency criteria.
"We want dynamic and adaptable living spaces," added Camarero, who also stressed that the design of both projects prioritizes accessibility, adaptation for people with functional diversity, response to post-Covid needs, and social and economic sustainability criteria.
The processing of this building in Benisaudet dates back to 2022, when the design of the construction project was awarded. The basic project was completed in June 2024, and the construction permit was obtained in April 2025. With the expectation that construction will be completed by the end of 2028, EVHA will subsequently allocate the apartments for rent.
This project represents the sixteenth new building under the Plan Vive planned for Alicante. Previously, public plots have been allocated in the PEDUI of Ciudad de la Luz, another site in Benisaudet, and five plots in Rabasa. Additionally, there are ongoing tenders for three more plots in Rabasa, one in Benalúa, and five more ceded by the Alicante City Council. A forthcoming tender for a building on Doctor Rico avenue has also been announced.
