The governing team of the Gata de Gorgos City Council (Compromís-PSPV) has expressed its «deep unease» regarding the Popular Party's criticism of the works on La Bassa and Duquesa de Almodóvar streets, labeling them as a «manipulation of the truth».

The municipal executive has issued a statement to clarify the situation regarding the works, rejecting the PP's accusations. According to the government, all financial and technical decisions have been made with «absolute transparency», with public council sessions broadcast on the City Council's official YouTube channel, where any citizen can review the debates and technical explanations.
The government recalls that the works project is an inheritance from the Popular Party of 2015, which was not executed at the time by the Alicante Provincial Council. It has been the current governing team that has had to rescue and update the project to improve the streets in the town center.
The «lack of responsibility» of the Popular Municipal Group is criticized, as they voted against the necessary credit modification of 305,000 euros to continue the works, which were affected by archaeological findings and water leaks. Furthermore, the absence of other PP councilors at the session is lamented, considering it an «institutional obligation and responsibility».
Despite the opposition and absenteeism, the financing of the works is guaranteed. A loan of 250,000 euros has been secured from the Provincial Council, with low interest, and the remaining 56,000 euros will be covered by own funds. The governing team has also announced an upcoming informational meeting with local residents to explain the project's status and address concerns during the 15-day legal public exhibition period.
