The event, held at the Les Rotes hotel in Dénia, gathered a broad spectrum of Marina Alta society, including the newspaper's staff, collaborators, business people, politicians, and professionals from the cultural, sports, judicial, and associative sectors.
The event went beyond a simple birthday party and reunion. A review of the newspaper's history was conducted, described by Dénia's municipal archivist, Rosa Seser, as a "graphic document of the history of the region's towns over the last 50 years." During this retrospective, homage was paid to Paco Serradell, who directed the weekly for over 40 years, and to Vicent Balaguer, a faithful collaborator with his section "Els 4 cantons."
The occasion was also used to remember and thank all the individuals who have been part of the editorial team, the administrative, layout, and advertising departments, as well as collaborators, advertising companies, distributors, and readers over these five decades.
“"We are committing to new challenges, such as updating our website and expanding our coverage area to also reach Marina Baixa."
In the speeches section, presented by journalist Toni Reig and Massu Sentí, the current director of Canfali, Vicente Bolta; Paco Serradell's widow, Marisa Ferrer; Dénia's municipal archivist, Rosa Seser; Paco Carrió, a close friend of Serradell; and the mayor of Dénia, Rafa Carrió, all spoke. As an anecdote, Paco Carrió asked the businessmen present about the possibility of each contributing €100,000 for the Dénia-Gandia railway connection. Finally, the manager, Jordi Monsonís, announced new challenges for the newspaper's future, including updating its website and expanding its coverage area to include Marina Baixa.
