The La Costera bookstore in Xàtiva celebrates its fiftieth anniversary today, having become a key cultural space and a literary reference for the city and its surrounding municipalities.

Founded on January 8, 1976, the bookstore was established with the intention of bringing reading and culture closer to the city. Despite suffering a bomb attack a few months after its opening, this event strengthened its resolve to become much more than just a business.

"Many people come from Xàtiva and the surrounding areas."

Currently, La Costera is an active social and cultural meeting point, organizing reading clubs, storytelling sessions, literary presentations, and activities that highlight local authors. To commemorate the anniversary, two special books have been published, and commemorative products have been created for regular customers.
The bookstore has also stood out for its defense and promotion of reading in Valencian, offering excellent service for those seeking materials in the local language. In a context of digitalization, the establishment champions the value of personal interaction and physical books.

"In an era where everything is electronic, it's wonderful that people continue to buy physical books."
