Several DANA victims' associations have gathered outside Congress to demand the withdrawal of immunity from the former president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón, so he can be tried for his management of the catastrophe.

The associations argue that Carlos Mazón, now a deputy in the Valencian Parliament, has made spurious use of his seat and that there is no functional link between the alleged crimes and his position as a deputy. The appeal filed with the Constitutional Court responds to the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community's refusal to investigate him in the case opened at the Court of Instance in Catarroja.
Lawyer Miriam Salmerón, from the 'Association of Victims of the DANA October 29, 2024', has stated that, while considering the Congressional and Senate commissions on the DANA positive, it is necessary for the former president to appear as an investigated person in Catarroja. She also criticized the Supreme Court's actions, considering it usurped functions belonging to a provincial court.
The spokesperson for the '29 d'Octubre' Victims Association, Mariló Gradoli, has appealed to the Constitutional Court's empathy, asking it to heed the victims and prioritize justice over the privilege of immunity. For his part, the president of the Association of DANA Affected Parties, Álex Carabal, has suggested that the PP should request the resignation of its former leader in Valencia.
The associations have criticized that, more than a year later, there are still "videos in a drawer," referring to messages where Mazón suggested flooding the media with data to give an impression of alertness. Ernesto Martínez, from the Association of Fatal Victims of the DANA 29-O, has questioned the number of hidden lies and compared the situation to that of Carles Puigdemont, calling for the 'popular' party member's seat to be revoked given his alleged unfulfilled responsibilities.
Finally, Toñi García, who lost her husband and daughter in the DANA, has insisted on the lack of responsibility assumption and has accused Mazón of mocking the Valencian people by not attending the regional parliament, a position for which he is paid.
