The renovation, which has already begun following the signing of the site layout act, seeks to adapt the facilities, nearly three decades old, to current service demands. The priority throughout the project's execution is to keep the station fully operational, maintaining response capability and ensuring the best possible conditions for firefighters.
The project planning ensures compatibility between the works and the station's daily activities, preventing any impact on the service provided in both Torrent and its wider area of influence. This intervention is considered a long-awaited and necessary action to enhance citizen safety and strengthen an essential service for Torrent and surrounding municipalities.
The project, awarded for approximately 2.5 million euros with a 16-month execution period, involves a complete renovation of the building. This includes reorganizing interior spaces, improving the hangar, and incorporating new amenities for operational staff. Planned actions include creating new functional areas on the ground floor, such as a control room, gym, kitchen, dining room, changing rooms, and intervention areas, as well as rest areas on the upper floor.
Additionally, work will be carried out on the hangar, and the facade, roof, and exterior enclosures will be renovated to improve insulation and building efficiency. The station will also be equipped with new auxiliary infrastructure. The Torrent Fire Station is a key infrastructure within the Provincial Fire Consortium, both due to its activity volume and its coverage area.
Currently, it has a staff of 57 personnel and is part of Zone 3, which also includes the Silla and Catarroja stations, totaling over a hundred firefighters. This station directly serves six municipalities with an approximate population of 225,000 inhabitants, while Zone 3 as a whole serves 27 localities exceeding 450,000 inhabitants. In terms of activity, the Torrent station recorded a total of 1,284 emergency services in 2025, with a high operational load in both fire interventions and rescue and assistance services.
