Valencia hosted the BioAgTech World Congress & Expo 2026, an international event where Cristóbal Aguado, president of AVA-ASAJA, was honored with the Global BioAgTech Sustainable Grower Award 2026 for his work in agricultural innovation.

The congress, held from April 7 to 9 in the city of Valencia, brought together leaders from the biotechnology industry to discuss advancements in biostimulants, bioinsecticides, and biofertilizers. During the gala dinner, the first Global BioAgTech Sustainable Grower Award 2026 was presented to Cristóbal Aguado, president of the Valencian Association of Farmers (AVA-ASAJA).
This award, sponsored by Syngenta, highlights the defense of producers and the promotion of agricultural experimentation and technology transfer through Finca Sinyent. This center, unique among professional agricultural organizations, conducts 32 trials in collaboration with universities and leading companies, in addition to 15 internal transfer lines and 20 innovation projects underway for the 2024-2026 period.

"The agricultural products that the industry processes and citizens consume are born from the daily work of farmers and ranchers, and in this sense, it is fundamental that all agents involved in the agri-food chain work together, seeking environmental sustainability but also economic profitability. AVA-ASAJA will always stand by innovation, technological advancements, and policies that guarantee a dignified viability for farms."

Other personalities honored at the gala, which also commemorated the second anniversary of the company Veganic, included Esteban Macías from Plant Health Usabiaga Group (Mexico), Sandeepa Kanitkar from Kan Biosys, Jesús Yañez from GreenCorp Group (Mexico), and Ukrainian researcher Valentina Bolokhouska from BTU.
Valencia's selection as the congress host city is due to Spain's global leadership in fruit and vegetable exports and its prominence in high-quality biostimulant manufacturing. The Palacio de Congresos hosted conferences and debates with over 80 speakers and representatives from more than 50 countries. Carlos Montesinos, head of innovation at Finca Sinyent, participated in the panel discussion “From the Earth to the Shelf,” analyzing smart and sustainable farming operations.
