Under the slogan «Avant va el carro» (Go ahead, cart), this municipal initiative aims to strengthen the presence of the local language in the city's commercial sector. So far, over 60 establishments have joined the proposal, and the registration period for new businesses remains open until April 15.
“"To bet on Valencian is to bet on our identity, our economy, and our proximity to citizens. Commerce is a space for socialization and daily use of the language, and initiatives like this help to normalize it and make it more visible in everyday life."
The Councillor for Culture, Israel Pérez, emphasized the importance of this campaign, noting that the response from the commercial sector has been very positive. According to Pérez, more and more businesses understand that using Valencian «adds value, generates proximity, and strengthens ties with customers».
Next week, the City Council will distribute informational material, registration forms, ballot boxes, and a shopping cart to each participating business. Customers can fill out tickets with their details and deposit them in the ballot boxes. The raffle for the 70 shopping carts will take place on April 30 in a public event at the municipal plenary hall, following the collection of the ballot boxes on April 27.
