Alicante is in the final stages of preparation for the 2026 Hogueras festival, with significant updates regarding monuments, public space management, and ticket sales for the bullfighting fair.

The La Ceràmica commission is presenting a monument titled "Còsmica," with a budget of 90,000 euros, aiming to reflect on society through astral symbolism. Palacio i Serra's proposal features a main scene with a meteor shower transforming into hands with eyes, and figures of the Sun (as a Mayan deity) and the Moon, highlighting humanity's dependence on natural cycles.
The twelve bonfires in the Special category are entering the final stretch towards their assembly. The newspaper INFORMACIÓN has launched a series of reports to showcase each commission competing this year, revealing details and curiosities about the monuments that are beginning to take shape.
The Hogueras Federation has withdrawn its request for a protocol area for sponsors during the mascletàs, thus avoiding conflict with the hospitality businesses in Luceros square. The Councilor for Festivities, Cristina Cutanda, confirmed that the area will not be implemented, allowing affected bars and restaurants to continue using their terraces under normal conditions.
Uncertainty persists for the hospitality businesses in Luceros regarding their outdoor seating. Following notification from the Local Police on behalf of the Alicante City Council, owners of establishments like Taberna de Luceros and Cervecería Chaflán have yet to receive definitive news about installing their terraces between June 16th and 25th.
The 2026 Hogueras Bullfighting Fair has generated significant anticipation, with long queues at the ticket offices of the Alicante bullring. All tickets for the June 20th event, featuring Morante de la Puebla, José María Manzanares, and Roca Rey, are already sold out. Availability is also dwindling for the June 23rd performance.
The Sagrada Familia commission is presenting "Big Bang," a 19-meter-high bonfire with a budget of 85,000 euros, aiming to be a standout in the Special category. Pere Baenas's proposal seeks to capture the anticipation and emotion that accompany a foguerer throughout their life.
The categories for Alicante's 2026 Hogueras have been finalized, with monument builders completing their works of art. A list of the artists responsible for bringing magic to all districts of Alicante has been published, organized by category and alphabetically.
