The celebration of Segregation Day is a fundamental date in local history, marking the beginning of San Antonio de Benagéber's development as an autonomous municipality. The event was attended by José Díez, second vice president and regional minister of the Presidency, who highlighted the town's evolution over nearly three decades.
“"It is a municipality that knows how to look forward, although growth also implies new challenges."
Díez offered the collaboration of the Consell to the City Council to face future challenges. The local government emphasized the symbolic value of this day, representing "the effort, unity, and determination" of the residents who promoted the segregation process.
The regional minister also recalled the municipality's origins, linked to the relocation of the population of Benagéber due to the construction of the reservoir in the 1950s, and noted that the segregation from Paterna was "the culmination of an already consolidated social reality".
“"Coordination between public administrations is key to addressing challenges related to services, infrastructure, and planning."
In addition to the institutional act, celebrations will continue on Saturday, April 11, with a festive day. This will include a large fair with local businesses, family activities, health and animal welfare proposals, as well as shows, a popular meal, and live music.
