The Valencia Fire Consortium is holding its XVII Internal Extrication Meeting on April 22 and 23 at the Sagunto fire station, aiming to keep knowledge of traffic accident rescues up to date.

This annual event, promoted by the Consortium through its Extrication Meeting Committee (Comenex), allows firefighters to update their preparation for traffic accidents. To do so, accident scenarios are recreated involving victims who need to be rescued.
To ensure maximum realism, scrapped vehicles are used. Participants, a total of 15 teams from the Consortium, must make decisions against the clock and work in a coordinated manner to effectively rescue each injured person. Each team also includes a medical member, as reported by the Consortium in a statement.
A jury from APRAT, the Professional Association of Accident Rescues, will supervise and score the maneuvers. The resulting classification will determine the winning team or teams that will attend the national accident rescue championship representing the Valencia Consortium.
During the first day, there will be rescue maneuvers both in the morning and in the afternoon. The first participating team will begin its maneuvers at 09:00 AM, while the last will do so at 07:45 PM. On the second day, activities will only take place in the morning.
The four best-classified teams and three invited teams will participate: the Castellón Fire Consortium, the Generalitat de Catalunya, and the Albacete City Council, as one of the priorities of these meetings is to foster knowledge transfer. The closing ceremony will take place at 01:00 PM at the same fire station, where the winners of the various categories will be announced, with the presence of the Deputy for Firefighters.
