The trade unions CCOO PV, UGT-PV, and STEPV-Iv, representing the private-subsidized education sector, have agreed to extend the strike called for June 17 in the Valencian Community to a full day, which was initially planned as partial.
The unions state they have made this decision due to the "lack of negotiation will and continuous breaches by the Ministry of Education." In a statement, they affirm that, after months of meetings, there have been "no real progress or concrete commitments" and consider that sector workers can no longer tolerate "the precariousness of working conditions or institutional abandonment."
The strike call affects all private-subsidized centers in the Valencian Community. Initially, partial stoppages were planned for June 3, 10, and 17, but now the June 17 will become a 24-hour strike, while the partial mobilization planned for June 10 remains.
The trade unions justify the escalation of protests by the absence of the Ministry of Education at the Labor Arbitration Tribunal meeting on May 28 and the lack of progress in sector negotiations. They also point out that the decision responds to an express request from their membership.
Among the main demands are the immediate implementation of partial retirement for teachers with delegated payment, an agreement that excludes no teacher, the review and improvement of staff hourly allocations, and the negotiation of a new delegated payment order that guarantees updated labor rights.
The unions assure that the call aims to facilitate the participation of all sector workers and to highlight the existing discontent in private-subsidized education.
In addition to the strike days, several demonstrations are planned. On June 10, they will gather in front of the Ministry of Finance, in Valencia, between 09:30 and 10:30 AM. On June 17, at the same time, the protest will move to the Corts (Valencian Parliament). That same afternoon, at 6:00 PM, simultaneous gatherings will be held in the Plaça de la Muntanyeta, in Alicante, the Plaça de les Aules, in Castellón, and in front of the Valencian parliament.
