The large influx of people seeking regularization, promoted by the Central Government with a deadline of June 30, has caused a collapse in municipal offices. The municipal official lamented that this responsibility has been assigned to local councils without proper foresight or necessary reinforcements.
“"We have spoken with other cities and they are in the same situation in Elda, Cartagena, Valencia, or Castellón. All without reinforcement, and channeling 100% of the Post Office branches for this."
Currently, the offices are almost entirely dedicated to processing this documentation, which means other services are being neglected. Furthermore, it has been noted that staff hirings cannot be done overnight, and there is a human resources rationalization plan that hinders the incorporation of new workers.
The CCOO union has also denounced the collapse in the offices, attributing it to a lack of staff and inefficient management. This situation not only affects the regularization campaign but has been observed in recent weeks with massive queues and long waits, coinciding with the processing of IBI and water aid.
The union emphasized that the situation has worsened due to a reduction in staff compared to the previous year, resulting from non-renewal of contracts and the absence of new hires. They have called for immediate hiring of reinforcement staff, the recovery of previous staff levels, and adequate planning of administrative campaigns to prevent future collapses.
