Ontinyent marked a historic day with the full operational launch of its new General Hospital and the birth of Blanca Martí Sanz, the first baby born in the state-of-the-art facility.

The city of Ontinyent has experienced a day filled with symbolism and emotion with the complete launch of its new General Hospital. This milestone was further marked by the arrival of Blanca Martí Sanz, the first baby born in these cutting-edge facilities.
The baby was born last Saturday around 10:00 PM, officially becoming the first infant to be delivered in the center's new maternity wards, which became operational over the weekend.
To commemorate this significant achievement, the mayor of Ontinyent, Jorge Rodríguez, and the Councilor for Health, Paula Soler, visited the hospital to personally congratulate the family and wish the baby «a very long and happy life». Rodríguez highlighted the emotional significance of the moment, noting its coincidence with a historic day for the city: “Today is the first day the new hospital opens its doors with all services fully operational, and we also have the opportunity to celebrate the first birth.”
The comprehensive launch of this hospital marks the culmination of over two decades of community demands. The new infrastructure received an investment exceeding 70 million euros and is designed to transform healthcare services for Ontinyent and the entire Vall d’Albaida region.
The new hospital facility triples the space of the old center, doubles patient capacity, and features five state-of-the-art operating rooms, a recovery unit, an intensive care unit, and a clean room, along with modern and adapted patient rooms.
Councilor for Health, Paula Soler, emphasized the efforts of the entire team that made this transition possible. Soler thanked the healthcare professionals for their dedication in successfully and «normally» transferring services and patients from the old hospital.
With Blanca's birth, the General Hospital of Ontinyent not only inaugurates modern, future-ready facilities but also begins to write its own history with the best possible start.
