The Mayor of Gandia, José Manuel Prieto, recently visited the city's night cleaning team to acknowledge the essential work of its 120 employees and highlight their daily efforts.

This initiative underscores the municipal commitment to urban hygiene, a service that operates during the night to minimize disruption to residents and ensure the city is presented in optimal conditions each morning. The workers, distributed in three shifts, perform manual cleaning of streets and public spaces.
The strengthening of this service is made possible by a significant municipal investment of over 1.5 million euros, projected for the year 2026. This allocation is part of an overall 10.4% increase in the basic services budget, totaling 23 million euros, aimed at improving street cleaning, urban maintenance, and waste collection.

"Cleanliness is everyone's responsibility."

José Manuel Prieto · Mayor of Gandia
During his visit, Mayor Prieto personally expressed his gratitude to the operators, emphasizing their dedication and the effort involved in working night shifts to enhance the quality of life for Gandia's citizens. He also called for civic responsibility, urging residents to respect public spaces and cooperate in keeping the city clean.
This action complements other recent measures to boost cleanliness, such as the investment of 350,000 euros in new machinery planned for 2025. All these initiatives reflect the Gandia government team's priority to optimize essential services and make the city a cleaner, safer, and more pleasant place for both residents and visitors.
