This distinction, one of the most prestigious internationally, evaluates environmental quality, safety, management, and services offered by beaches. This year's novelty is the Special Mention in Lifesaving Services, a recognition granted periodically that highlights the excellence of the rescue and safety system on the beaches.
To obtain this mention, the Gandia City Council submitted a detailed report of the service, which includes the work carried out by the lifesaving team and the Beach Police. The professionalism, coordination, and effectiveness of the municipal system were highlighted, placing Gandia among the top three municipalities nationwide in this category.
“"These recognitions demonstrate that we are on the right track, as evidenced by the good results in tourist occupancy that we have been achieving recently."
The city of Gandia is consolidating its position as a national and international benchmark in environmental quality, sustainability, accessibility, and tourism management, remaining one of the seven tourist destinations with the longest presence in the history of the award, which this year celebrates its 40th anniversary.
As part of this recognition, Gandia will host the Blue Flag Week from May 28 to 31 at Nord Beach. This event will bring together representatives from awarded destinations to commemorate the anniversary with a program of activities. The schedule will include an institutional ceremony for the presentation of commemorative flags, workshops on best practices and recycling for beach staff, and environmental education activities for children within the Gandia a la Mar program.
