The Valencia Provincial Council has approved the allocation of grants for the ‘La llengua del nostre poble’ plan, aimed at organizing Valencian language courses in municipalities, local entities, and inter-municipal associations within the province.
The provincial corporation is dedicating a total of €102,000 to this initiative, which will be distributed among 43 town councils, seven inter-municipal associations, and the local entity of El Perelló. The primary objective of these grants is to support local entities that promote activities to enhance the knowledge and use of Valencian among the population.
The courses, which will be conducted in person with the support of online resources, are aimed at the general public and seek to facilitate the learning and practice of the region's native language in an accessible manner.
“
"Valencian is much more than a language. It is a way of understanding who we are, of relating to our environment, and of keeping alive a heritage that we have inherited and that we have the responsibility to pass on to future generations. That is why, from the Provincial Council, we continue to help town councils bring its learning closer to all citizens."
“
"With this program, we guarantee that anyone, whether living in a large or small town, has the opportunity to learn, perfect, and use Valencian normally. We want the language to be increasingly present in daily life, because a language grows when it is spoken, shared, and becomes part of people's everyday lives."
Through the ‘La llengua del nostre poble’ plan, the Provincial Council aims to continue extending Valencian language knowledge among the adult population and reinforce the social use of the language at the local level, in close collaboration with the town councils and local entities of the territory.
