The Vall d'Uixó City Council has received a €50,000 grant from the public entity Red.es, under the Data Spaces Kit program. This funding, provided by the European Union - Next Generation EU and Spain's Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, will support the local administration's digital transformation and position the city as innovative.
The Councilor for European Projects, Jorge García, highlighted the importance of data management for public administrations, as it enables informed decision-making, better planning, and objective evaluation of policy impact.
Thanks to this grant, La Vall d'Uixó has joined the Territory and Sustainability Data Space, participating in the European Healthy Smart Cities project, which examines the link between the urban environment and population health. As a first outcome, the City Council has launched an environmental indicators observatory providing data on air quality, noise, and weather conditions.
García explained that this tool will allow for more precise measurement of municipal policy results and verification of whether implemented actions meet their objectives, such as analyzing the impact of sustainable mobility or pollution reduction measures.
Joining this data space will also strengthen collaboration with other public administrations, enabling secure information sharing and better resource utilization, while maintaining control and ownership of municipal data.
According to the councilor, this grant places La Vall d'Uixó among municipalities committed to modern, efficient, and transparent administration, leveraging new technologies to improve citizens' lives. This initiative bolsters the Municipal Innovation Plan, charting the city's course towards becoming a 'smart city'.
