The Gandia City Council has initiated a new phase of its intensive cleaning plan, which will cover 60 streets in Grau and the Corea neighborhood until May 19, as part of the Respect Plan.

This intervention, set to unfold over the coming weeks, includes comprehensive actions on urban furniture, graffiti removal, cleaning of containers, streetlights, drains, and the maintenance of parks and gardens. The objective is to improve the general condition of the city and reinforce the upkeep of public spaces.

"We are not limited solely to superficial street cleaning; we also include actions on urban furniture, graffiti removal, cleaning of containers, streetlights, drains, as well as parks and gardens, with the aim of achieving a more complete and lasting result."

The initiative, which began last week with the cleaning of 20 streets in Grau, is carried out periodically and is integrated into a coordinated planning of municipal services. For this action, extraordinary personnel have been hired, allowing for more thorough work in the designated areas.
Currently, a total of 356 operators work on the various municipal contracts responsible for city maintenance. Of these, 120 are dedicated to street cleaning and 107 to cleaning public buildings, while the rest are distributed among services such as parks and gardens, road maintenance, sewerage, lighting, and pest control. For these tasks, 161 vehicles and specialized machinery are also utilized.
The annual budget allocated to these basic services exceeds 20 million euros, an investment that the council considers key to ensuring the proper functioning and quality of the urban environment. Furthermore, the City Council has highlighted the recent modification of the coexistence ordinance, aimed at toughening sanctions against uncivil behavior and preserving public spaces.

"We are facing a collective task. We all have a share of responsibility as people fortunate enough to live here in Gandia. We must consider what we can do and how we want our city to be today, tomorrow, and in the future. The Respect Plan is not just a campaign, but a way of understanding the city. And, once again, we take another step to make Gandia a more dignified, more cared-for, and prouder city; in short, a more beautiful Gandia."
