The Councillor for Culture, Balbina Sendra, participated in the presentation of this initiative, emphasizing that the festival confirms the healthy state of local culture and the city's desire to continue promoting quality programming. Sendra highlighted the importance of collaboration between institutions and the local cultural fabric, valuing the role of agents like LaCasaCalba and the Teatre del Raval as strategic allies of the City Council.
“"These types of initiatives allow us to attract visitors at different times of the year and build loyalty among an audience that comes not only for the beach but also for the diversity of cultural offerings that Gandia provides."
Isabel Cogollos, manager of LaCasaCalba, explained that this edition introduces a significant calendar change, shifting the programming from winter to spring and autumn. This will expand the cycle's reach and better adapt to audience habits. The inaugural concert, featuring the Safor group ‘No som de Seattle’, has already received a great reception, with tickets almost sold out days before its celebration.
The HOSTES cycle will kick off next Saturday, April 18, with a performance by No som de Seattle, formed by Paula Bernabé and Fernando Navarro, who will present their first album, Condicional del SER. The band offers a sound that combines electronic dream pop and contemporary singer-songwriter music in Valencian, with a strong emotional charge. The group members have described their project as a “sincere and honest” proposal, addressing themes such as mental health, migration, empowerment, and loss, and have emphasized the importance of giving visibility to local culture and the Valencian language.
The program will continue in May with two dates included in the state circuit Girando por Salas (GPS): on May 9 with the Malaga artist Jassy Ojeda, and on May 29 with the Galician artist Antía Muíño. After the summer, the cycle will return on September 25 with Antonio Arias, leader of Lagartija Nick, and the confirmed closing will be on November 14 with Julio Bustamante, a key figure in Mediterranean rock. All concerts will be held at 8:00 PM at the Teatre del Raval de Gandia and will include the “attentive listening” experience, where the audience can enjoy a song blindfolded.
