The city of Vila-real is preparing for the 12th edition of the Geek Pride Days, taking place on June 6th and 7th at the Congress, Fairs, and Meetings Center. The organization expects to welcome over 2,000 visitors, a figure already achieved last year, solidifying the event as a significant occasion for alternative leisure in the province.
The program will offer a wide variety of activities and stands. There will be a dedicated cosplay zone, K-pop performances, video game demonstrations, creative workshops such as making Hama beads or painting tote bags, as well as spaces for board games and role-playing. Samurai martial arts exhibitions and 3D printing demonstrations will also be featured.
The Congress Center will host a stand area with participating businesses, artisans, publishers, bookstores, authors, and specialized artists. Additionally, various associations will offer activities throughout the weekend, including driving simulators and anime-related workshops.
The main stage will be the hub for concerts, such as Meimei's performance, theater and Japanese martial arts shows, K-pop Random sessions, and the traditional cosplay, karaoke, and dance contests. The foodtruck area will provide diverse options, including vegan choices and options for dietary intolerances.
Admission to the Geek Pride Days is free, although advance booking is recommended for crowd control. The organization also highlighted that the venue, located on Miralcamp street, will be accessible via a free urban bus service. The event aims to project Vila-real as a "lively, dynamic city with its own identity".
