The city of Gandia has completed improvement works on Camí Vell d'Oliva, in the Benieto industrial estate, multiplying the capacity of the storm drain collector by six to prevent floods.

This intervention has involved an investment of 600,000 euros, jointly funded by the Gandia City Council, the Generalitat (through IVACE), and the company Vicky Foods. The action is part of the strategy to modernize the city's industrial areas.
The works consisted of the comprehensive renovation of the storm drain collector and the rehabilitation of the pavement on Camí Vell d'Oliva and the Rotonda del Pi, the access point to the industrial estate. The new, larger capacity collector significantly improves water evacuation and reduces the risk of flooding during heavy rainfall.

"This intervention responds quickly and effectively to the problems detected last October thanks to the strength of the City Council and its ability to attract investments and subsidies."

Following the floods recorded last October, the initial project was redesigned to multiply the drainage system's capacity by six, extending the collector to the service road of Avenida de Alicante and increasing its diameter to one meter.

"Beyond the visible surface works, the most important aspect is the underground infrastructure, which truly improves the system's safety and functionality."

This action is part of the modernization strategy for Gandia's industrial estates, which since 2017 has involved a global investment of 4.2 million euros, mostly funded by IVACE, and which will reach almost 6 million euros with investments planned for 2025 and 2026.
