The municipality of Benifairó de la Valldigna, in the Safor region, will undertake the renovation of Pintor Sorolla square, the covering of the basketball court, and the improvement of the Canaleta de Pedra thanks to the Pla Obert from the Diputación de Valencia, which allocates 1,020,000 euros to the town.
The Diputación de Valencia, through its Pla Obert program, has allocated 410,000 euros for the second phase of the renovation of Pintor Sorolla square in Benifairó de la Valldigna. This intervention, already underway, includes the installation of a canopy to protect the children's area from the sun, the placement of a fountain, the adaptation of the trees, and the pedestrianization of the part pending from the first phase.
Another significant project funded by the same program is the installation of a cover for the basketball court, costing 400,000 euros. Mayor Marc Vercher emphasized the importance of this work, as it is annexed to the school and will benefit the entire educational community.
“
"It is a very important project because it is annexed to the school and will provide excellent service to the entire educational community."
Additionally, with the Pla Obert investment, work is also being carried out to eliminate the bottleneck at Canaleta de Pedra. This route, according to Vercher, will allow circulation through the town without having to pass through the center, helping to decongest traffic. The mayor also announced that other projects funded by the Diputación are being studied, such as a multi-purpose center with a library and the improvement of the town's entrance.
The Pla Obert 23/27 allocates a total of 1,020,000 euros to Benifairó de la Valldigna, representing an increase of 220,000 euros compared to the previous legislature. Marc Vercher positively assessed the flexibility of the plan, which grants autonomy to municipalities to decide their investments and allows for better medium and long-term planning.
“
"The Pla Obert is very positive because it gives us autonomy to decide where we want to invest. The fact that it is for four years allows us to plan better and undertake more ambitious projects for our town in the medium and long term."
The first vice president and head of Municipal Cooperation, Natàlia Enguix, highlighted the efficiency of the Pla Obert, which already totals 1,053 projects underway or executed throughout the province, with an investment of 158 million euros out of the 350 million total of the four-year plan.
