The European Union, through its Solidarity Fund, has allocated 111,319 euros to the Cullera City Council for the emergency restoration of its Castle wall, damaged by the DANA of 2024.

This financial aid will compensate the initial expenses that the council assumed for the recovery and repair of the eastern wall and the corner tower of the first albacar of the Castle Wall, one of the city's most emblematic heritage elements. Restoration works concluded in April 2025.
The granting of this subsidy was communicated by the Ministry of Finance, within the framework of an extraordinary mobilization of funds approved by the European Parliament to address the effects of climate disasters in various areas of the continent.
The consequences of the DANA of 2024 in the Valencian Community have been classified by European regulations as a «severe natural disaster», which allowed the activation of the European Union Solidarity Fund (EUSF) to cover urgent actions and essential emergency expenses.
The Ministry of Finance, following the request of the Government of Spain to declare the Valencian Community a disaster zone, formally requested the activation of the EUSF in January 2025.
The city council positively assesses this resolution, as it helps alleviate the economic effort made by municipal coffers after the severe damage suffered by the storm. The arrival of these European aids represents institutional support for Cullera and other affected municipalities, as well as a guarantee to advance in the recovery of infrastructure and heritage damaged by one of the most severe meteorological episodes recorded in the Valencian Community.
