The search for the sixteen-year-old minor missing on Thursday at Pla de la Torre beach in Almassora continues without results. The Civil Guard resumed work on Saturday for the third consecutive day to try and locate the young man, a resident of the municipality, who entered the water with two friends and did not return.
Search teams have concentrated their efforts on the area of the breakwater where the minor was last seen. During the morning, underwater units worked at this point with difficulties due to sea currents and poor visibility caused by the sediment stirred up from the seabed.
Despite the operation deployed since Thursday, the tasks have not yielded any trace of the young man.
The minor's disappearance adds to other serious incidents recently recorded on the beaches of Castellón province. Early this morning, a 27-year-old man drowned in Peñíscola. When emergency services arrived at the scene, the victim was already out of the water, on some rocks. Medical teams performed resuscitation maneuvers, but could not save his life.
With this incident and the death of a minor in Benicàssim in early April, three people have now lost their lives by drowning on the beaches of Castellón province in recent months.
