The beaches of Marenyet and Estany, located in the municipality of Cullera, are undergoing a regeneration process to recover their original width through the addition of one million cubic meters of sand.

The works, promoted by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, aim to reverse the coastal regression that has affected this area of the Ribera Baixa for decades. The intervention, with a budget of 32,717.69 euros, covers nearly three kilometers of coastline.
The mega-dredger in charge of the project is already operating in Marenyet, where the sand had almost completely disappeared. According to official forecasts, the works will be completed before June 30, just in time for the summer season.

"They are doing a great job now and I hope it will be very positive for the estany and for all of us, as well as for Cullera."

The project not only involves the addition of sand, equivalent to 400 Olympic swimming pools, but also includes the extension of three 280-meter breakwaters to prevent sediment loss. With this action, the new coastal strip will be between 40 and 100 meters wide, acting as a natural barrier against future storms.
