“"Today's conference is a space to listen, learn, and connect. We talk about European funding, but above all, we talk about people, the territory, and the future. About how we can better prepare our municipalities and turn difficulties into opportunities for transformation. From the Consorcio de la Ribera, we will continue to bet on cooperation between administrations, entities, and citizens, because only by working together can we face future challenges with guarantees."

Rafelguaraf hosted the conference 'La Ribera and Europe in climate action', an event that highlighted the importance of European funds for territorial resilience and the transformation of municipalities.
This initiative, promoted by the Consorcio de la Ribera, which includes the commonwealths of Ribera Alta and Ribera Baixa through PATER – Territorial Pact for Employment in La Ribera, is part of the 30th anniversary of the Mancomunidad de la Ribera Alta. The event took place at the local Espai Jove and brought together experts, institutional representatives, and local stakeholders.
The main objective of the event was to analyze how European funds contribute to climate change mitigation, strengthening territorial resilience, and improving preparedness for potential disasters in the Ribera del Xúquer. The institutional opening emphasized Europe's role in the climate transition and the need for cooperation among administrations.
The inaugural conference addressed the relevance of European funds in achieving the climate objectives set for 2030 and 2050, as well as future challenges. Additionally, a technical overview of available policies and instruments to advance towards a more sustainable and resilient economy was provided. The program included several roundtables that showcased European projects already transforming the territory, with initiatives focused on citizen participation, climate risk management, and municipal cooperation.
Strategies for disaster adaptation were also discussed, with a special focus on resilient urban planning, flood management, and the importance of applied environmental research. Action lines linked to European climate adaptation initiatives, sustainable energy action plans, municipal energy sovereignty projects, and international cooperation programs were presented, highlighting the key role of municipalities in the fight against climate change.
With this conference, the Consorcio de la Ribera reinforces its commitment to sustainability and territorial innovation, promoting spaces for meeting and knowledge exchange that contribute to building a more prepared, resilient Ribera aligned with European climate objectives.
