The Castelló City Council has approved the payment of compensation amounting to 5,431.20 euros to a resident who fell due to the poor condition of a curb.

The Castelló City Council has approved the payment of compensation amounting to 5,431.20 euros (including interest) to a resident who suffered a fall on the public highway. The fall occurred due to the poor condition of a sidewalk curb on Vinaroz street, near number 24. The decision comes after the affected party took legal action, and the court recognized that the sunken curb was "in an optimal state to cause pedestrian falls." The City Council will pay 1,000 euros directly to the resident, with the remainder covered by the municipal insurance.
Furthermore, approval has been given for the public consultation of the ordinance regulating the Castelló citizen card. This consultation will be conducted via the local administration's website to gather opinions from citizens and representative organizations. The card aims to unify and facilitate access to basic information and frequently used municipal services, improving procedures for residents. Currently, the card is used, among other things, to accumulate discounts on the 2026 waste collection fee.
Finally, the Urban Planning and Public Services commission has approved the adjustment of annual payments for the agreement between the Castelló City Council and the Generalitat Valenciana for the works on the West ring road. The main change stipulates that the council will allocate nearly 3 million euros in its municipal budget for 2027, a year for which no contribution was initially planned. In return, the regional administration will increase its investment to 13.3 million for 2028, compared to the initial 8.7 million.
