Traffic safety, maintenance, and cleanliness are the primary requests from the residents of Lourdes Group to the Castelló government. These demands follow three years of «unfulfilled promises,» as explained by spokespersons from the socialist municipal group after a meeting with local residents.
One of the most frequent complaints is pedestrian insecurity, particularly due to high traffic speeds on camino Sequiota and the N-225 stretch. Additionally, residents report a lack of proper road surface maintenance and the absence of regulated parking spaces.
“"The neighborhood conveys to the government the abandonment of this southern district after three years of unfulfilled promises."
Among the requests is the implementation of two-way traffic on Gran Vía Tárrega Monteblanco from its intersection with the N-225. The General Plan, which the Popular Party opposed in the previous legislature, allows for expropriation to include a bike lane connecting to the rest of the city.
On camino Sequiota, residents are calling for new, higher speed bumps and the replacement of damaged or missing ones, as the road experiences very high speeds, endangering pedestrians. There is also a need for loading and unloading zones to serve local businesses, which currently cause daily traffic congestion.
Environmental degradation is another persistent complaint, with public roads lacking cleanliness, overflowing bins, vegetation encroaching on the bike lane, and peeling paint on the roads, all without the residents' requests being addressed.
