This initiative comes amidst discussions about potentially moving forward the transfers of Holy Week images in Alzira. The goal is to allow for longer exhibition periods for the canopies and reduce the long queues that form during their brief public display.
The canopies, known as 'doseles', are a distinctive feature of Alzira's Holy Week, representing ephemeral artistic compositions that require months of preparation. Traditionally, they are displayed between Holy Monday and Holy Thursday, before being dismantled on Good Friday for the Holy Burial procession.
“"The possibility of bringing forward the transfers to alleviate these long waits, which generate public complaints, is a decision for each brotherhood."
The canopy of the Archicofradía de la Virgen de la Soledad y de la Preciosísima Sangre de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo will be open for visits on Thursday, April 16, and Friday, April 17, from 5 PM to 10 PM, and on Saturday, April 18, from 10 AM to 2 PM. This is not the first time that some brotherhoods have reopened their canopies outside the Holy Week period, as occurred in 2013 and 2019.
