Sala Patraix will host the performances of Cárcel de Muñecas, the new production by the Valencian company Las Barraca, from May 22nd to 24th. The shows will start at 7:00 PM, and tickets are already available on the venue's official website.
With an approximate duration of 80 minutes, the play offers a scenic journey that blends social drama with the contemporary universe of cabaret and drag. The piece addresses the reality of four LGTBIQ+ characters who coexist in a prison for 'vagrants and delinquents', sharing the same confinement space while facing repression and social exclusion.
The protagonists are the drag artists themselves who perform the piece: Ditto, Ada Carrasco, G.Orgia, and Canalla Montiel. Coming from very different scenic universes and worldviews, the four construct a narrative marked by friendship, identity, collective resistance, and the unease of inhabiting a society that continues to try to push them away from streets and public spaces.
Behind the company are Abril, Juan, Adrián, and Jordi, creators and performers trained for four years in higher studies of Dramatic Art. With Las Barraca, they seek to translate the drag queen code into contemporary theatrical language, exploring new forms of representation more connected to the current reality of the LGTBIQ+ collective. The company will also soon present the re-staging of Abeja Reina on July 3rd, 4th, and 5th, also at Sala Patraix, advocating for drag as an artistic and political tool.
