With university entrance exams (PAU) just around the corner, Valencian students face the final study hours with nerves. Following routines of good nutrition, exercise, and rest can help manage this anxiety.

Experiencing anxiety before the PAU exams is a natural reaction, but it can be managed with practical advice. Good nutrition, exercise, and rest are key to facing the final study hours and improving information retention.
Studying excessively at the last minute can be counterproductive. According to Manuel Camino, a Doctor of Psychology and director of Ivasam, "Studying too much in a short time does not allow us those moments of rest to retain information." It is also recommended to limit screen exposure to avoid unnecessary information overload, opting instead to stay active with sports.
Discussing insecurities with peers can mutually reinforce anxiety. "They show their insecurity and this affects me, and therefore, we mutually reinforce that level of insecurity," explains Camino. Regarding nutrition, Felipe Baier, treasurer of the Official College of Dietitians and Nutritionists, recommends "prioritizing plant-based foods and avoiding all ultra-processed items," as excessive caffeine intake can increase anxiety.
The role of family is fundamental, conveying messages that separate the student's identity from the academic result. Faced with the fear of blanking out, Camino suggests seeking alternatives: "Leave the question for later, go to a question you do control, and then, when you are more confident, return to the first one." Deep breathing is also a beneficial technique.
