The City Council of Castelló and the Association of Venezuelans in Castellón (Asovecas) have organized a collection of non-perishable food and basic necessities for people affected by earthquakes registered in Venezuela.

The initiative, which has the collaboration of the Sagrada Familia Parish of Castellón, will take place this Friday June 26 and Saturday June 27, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, in the city's Plaza María Agustina. The campaign slogan is 'Your help brings hope, your generosity saves lives'.
The Councilor for Social Coexistence, Vicent Sales, explained that the mobilization responds to the serious situation caused by two earthquakes, magnitudes 7.1 and 7.5, which shook the state of Yaracuy and areas near Caracas. These tremors caused partial building collapses and widespread structural damage, forcing the evacuation of thousands of people.
Sales highlighted the council's commitment to the Venezuelan community, which numbers over 3,000 residents in the city. 'Castelló is an intercultural city that understands solidarity as a city value. The Venezuelan community is part of our social fabric and, in the face of an emergency like this, the City Council could not look the other way,' he stated.

"We support this collection because we know that every donation goes directly to those who need it most."

Donations can include potable water, non-perishable foods (rice, pasta, tuna, sardines, lentils, beans, oats, oil, and canned goods), powdered milk and infant formula, diapers for babies and adults, wet wipes, personal hygiene products, sanitary pads and feminine hygiene products, basic medicines, and first-aid supplies, as well as batteries and household cleaning and hygiene products.

"We are deeply pained by what our country is going through, but we are also proud to see how Castellón, our second home, has embraced us from the very first moment. This collection is our way of being close to our families and our people, even though we are thousands of kilometers away."
