The town of Algemesí has completed a significant improvement project at the western access to the municipality, specifically at the roundabout of the Copal industrial area. This intervention, which involved an investment of 200,000 euros, was funded by a grant from the Generalitat Valenciana through the Valencian Institute of Business Competitiveness.
The project has transformed the town's entrance with the incorporation of the artistic work Monument to the Orange, created by a local sculptor. In addition to this symbolic element, the works included the demolition of the old central focus, the reorganization of the space, and the transplanting of plant species to the Pepe Miquel industrial area. Existing stones have been relocated to the municipal cemetery.
“"This action allows us to improve one of the main accesses to the city while reinforcing our identity as a municipality closely linked to the orange. The incorporation of this monument is not only an aesthetic commitment but also a way to highlight our agricultural sector and dignify the accesses to the city, a trend we will gradually work on."
Among the implemented improvements are the installation of new LED lighting, the incorporation of security cameras with an artificial intelligence-based license plate recognition system, and the enhancement of vertical and horizontal signage. The entire perimeter of the roundabout has also been re-asphalted to optimize road safety and traffic flow at this strategic point.
The council plans to soon initiate the administrative procedure for a new project at the access roundabout near the Sant Onofre hermitage, where a monument will be incorporated in remembrance and gratitude for the solidarity shown during the flood, with a budget of 50,000 euros. Recently, improvements have also been made to the access roundabouts near the sports center and the Maristas, with artificial turf and a new roundabout to enhance traffic safety.
