The writer from Moncofa, Pedro Paradís, presents his new novel, Olvido, a rural thriller that explores memory and silence in an isolated village, at the Castellón Book Fair.

Paradís's new work transports readers to the municipality of Rescoldos, a nearly empty place where a flood isolates its inhabitants. The plot revolves around an elderly neighbor who feels the past returning for her, giving the novel its name and initiating a detective intrigue story.
This publication marks Paradís's return to literature a decade after his first novel, Zacarías. Unlike the previous one, set in an urban environment, Olvido unfolds in an inland village, a change of setting that the author considers necessary for the narrative.

"We are memories and we cease to be what we forget."

The initial idea for the novel was born from a story about Civil War shelters in Burriana, where an image of a door closed for decades and knocks from the other side inspired the plot. This image was the starting point for creating an atmosphere of oppression and suspense, and the main character, a vulnerable elderly person who must solve a mystery.
Olvido, which is already in its second edition and will soon reach its third, has been very well received by readers. The author highlights that, although there is no police officer, the novel is a thriller that uses mystery as an excuse to reflect on memory, identity, and the collective silence of villages.
