One of the most emblematic captains of CD Castellón in its recent history, David Cubillas, has announced his retirement from professional football once the current season concludes.

Cubillas, who was part of the Villarreal CF academy until reaching its reserve team, defended the albinegro shirt between 2017 and 2023. During this period, he played 194 official matches and scored 38 goals, leaving an indelible mark both on and off the field.
The Castellón-born forward competed with the club in Segunda División, Primera RFEF, Segunda B, and Tercera División, being a key player in two promotions: the one achieved in 2018 to Segunda B and the historic one in 2020 to Segunda División.
As the club's top scorer in the 21st century, the forward was a protagonist in some of the most important moments in the entity's recent history. Among them, highlights include the goal against Peña Deportiva in extra time of the playoff for promotion to LaLiga Hypermotion in 2020, and the goal against RC Deportivo in the 2023 playoff, also in extra time. These decisive actions are now part of the memory of the 'orellut' fans.
Beyond the numbers, Cubillas will be remembered for his dedication, professionalism, and special connection with the club, the people, and his hometown, becoming a player much loved by the fans and a symbol for several generations of 'albinegros'.
