Caritas Interparroquial of Vila-real presented its Annual Report for the 2025 fiscal year this Friday. The document highlights the entity's work in accompanying and supporting individuals and families in vulnerable situations. The event featured speeches from the chaplain, Father Javier Aparici; the entity's president, Enrique Cortés; and the councilor for Social Services of the Vila-real City Council, Toni Marín.
Councilor Toni Marín emphasized the valuable work carried out by Caritas volunteers and staff, stressing the importance of collaboration between public administrations and associative networks. Father Javier Aparici framed the presentation within Charity Week, reminding attendees that "behind every figure there are concrete people, families, difficulties, struggles, and hopes." He also focused on this year's motto, "Choose to love, choose community," as an invitation to build a more committed society.
In 2025, Caritas provided food aid to 311 families, totaling 773 individuals from various nationalities. This figure represents a reduction of 105 families compared to the previous year, a decrease of 25.25%. President Enrique Cortés highlighted the progressive implementation of wallet cards, a tool that promotes care models reinforcing user autonomy and dignity. The amount managed through this system reached 12,000 euros.
Marín particularly noted that 105 families no longer require the entity's assistance, a statistic he indicated demonstrates the effectiveness of the accompaniment and social inclusion efforts. He also congratulated Caritas on the wallet card initiative. Cortés underscored the importance of coordinated work with the Department of Social Services, as well as with other entities such as Diocesan Caritas, the St. Vincent de Paul Conference, and the Red Cross.
